Global Warming

Global Warming is defined as the increase of the average temperature on Earth. As the Earth is getting hotter, disasters like hurricanes, droughts and floods are getting more frequent.

Over the last 100 years, the average temperature of the air near the Earth´s surface has risen a little less than 1° Celsius (0.74 ± 0.18°C, or 1.3 ± 0.32° Fahrenheit). Does not seem all that much? It is responsible for the conspicuous increase in storms, floods and raging forest fires we have seen in the last ten years, though, say scientists.

Their data show that an increase of one degree Celsius makes the Earth warmer now than it has been for at least a thousand years. Out of the 20 warmest years on record, 19 have occurred since 1980. The three hottest years ever observed have all occurred in the last ten years, even.

Green Living Tips

some simple and easy steps that you can take to reduce your ecological footprint.

Please Share your suggestions and your tips that work to reduce wasteful consumption. Please e-mail them and we would work on it.........

In your Home

Turn off equipment like televisions and stereos when you're not using them.
Choose energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs. Save water: some simple steps can go a long way in saving water like for e.g: you should always turn off the tap when you are brushing your teeth. And try to collect the water used to wash vegetables and salad to water your houseplants. Let clothes dry naturally. Keep lids on pans when cooking to prevent your cooker having to work extra hard. Prefer to use gas ovens, Geysers etc in place of the electric ones. Recycle your paper, glass, plastics and other waste. Use rechargeable batteries. Send e-greetings instead of paper cards.

In your Garden

Water the garden early in the morning or late in the evening. This reduces water loss due to evaporation. Don’t overwater the garden. Water only till the soil becomes moist, not soggy. Explore water efficient irrigation systems. Sprinkler irrigation and drip irrigation can be adapted to garden situations . Make your garden lively - plant trees and shrubs which will attract birds. You can also put p nest boxes and put food. Try growing sturdy grass in bare patches of land , and convince people in your neighbourhood to do so too. Put waste to work in your garden- sweep the fallen leaves and flowers into flower beds or under shrubs . This will increase soil fertility and also reduce the need for frequent watering. If you have little space in your garden , you could make a compost pit to turn organic waste from the kitchen and garden to soil enriching manure . Don't use chemicals in the garden - as they will eventually end up in the sea and can upset the delicate balance of lifecycles. Organic and environmentally friendly fertilisers and pesticides are available - organic gardening reduces pollution and is better for wildlife.

Reuse and Recycle

Use washable nappies instead of disposables if you can. Recycle as much as you can. Give unwanted clothes, toys and books to charity shops or jumble sales. Use mains electricity rather than batteries if possible. If not, use rechargeable batteries. Use a solar-powered calculator instead of one with a battery. Instead of a plastic ballpoint, use a fountain pen with bottled ink, not plastic cartridges. Store food and other products in ceramic containers rather than foil and plastic wrap While Shopping

Buy fruit and vegetables that are in season to help reduce enormous transport costs resulting from importing produce and, where possible, choose locally produced food. When buying fish look out for a variety of non-endangered species and buy local fish if possible. Prefer vegetarian options for your meals.

On-line Shopping

Purchase solar powered products. Send e-cards, if you can, rather than buy paper cards. Shop online, not only will this reduce fuel consumption and emissions by not driving to the shops, but each time you buy something on-line WWF receive a donation. You may even buy products from the nature shop.

At your workplace

Use printers that can print on both sides of the paper ; try to look into this option when replacing old printers. Use the back of a draft or unwanted printout instead of notebooks. Even with a double-sided printer there is likely to be plenty of spare paper to use! Always buy recycled paper - for your business stationery and to use in your printers. Switch off computer monitors, printers and other equipment at the end of each day. Though in standby mode they're still using power - and that adds to global warming. Always turn off your office light and computer monitor when you go out for lunch or to a meeting.

Already we have lost many species of animals in the last century. The animals are killed for commercial use.

In India in year1937 India had about 7000 tigers and now we have only 1411 tigers (estimated). Our national animal is extincting from our own country. Is there any one to save them. Can our next generation will be able to see tigers as we didn’t see many animals because no body was their to save them.
Can’t we take any precautionary measures against it. I know government has taken many measures to protect it but still it is not enough to protect them.

According to the estimates of biologist our tigers will soon extinct in year 2015.

In India many tigers reserves are there but still their extincting, we can provide more security to protect them, breeding of tigers all over the world , saving as many tigers as possible as from their illness by hiring vet.doctors, protecting their natural habitat as forest, etc. In some cases even government is responsible for the extinct of tigers in security purpose of tigers. Not only tigers are in endangered level of extinction but as well as lions of Africa and India, Blue whales in pacific ocean and sharks. Surely these fishes are killed to make cosmetic products from their skin and liver . If one rich person dies all even after death he is there in news , television, etc. But if a animal dies we tell “we don’t care of animals they are the trouble on earth” is it good to say that. Even this generation does not have emotions against animals. If an animal kill’s a man you kill the animal back for protecting the man. eg : in Australia’s beach in 1980’s they killed many sharks. But we are ot thinking that they are also have the right to live in this planet not only the humans . So even if a human enters the region of animals and kills them illegally what we do? Nothing sit at home on a relaxing sofa holding a coffee in hand and in other hand news paper and read and later forget it…. but if a animal kill’s a human when they go to office or any official they spread this animal is very bad it killed a human.

Think before telling anything.. How much important is each and every animal in ecosystem.Human have brain to think but that poor, helpless animals what else they can do than dieing for this human .

Think of a Planet which there is no Animals ........... There wont be the planet also as they have an important place in this Earth........
